IoT The Internet of Things

The Internet of things (IoT) is a network of things embedded with software, electronics, network connectivity and sensors to connect to the other for data collection and exchange.

Communications is getting more and more prevalent. You don’t need to look for a gateway to connect to the Internet. The environment is, more and more, the connection gateway. The advent of LTE, or 4G, is a further step in this direction: it has larger capacity and moreover it has the capability to provide native IP connectivity. IoT uses limited traffic capacity. The main enabling technologies in IoT are summarized into technological innovations like RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Device) systems, sensor networks, and intelligence in smart objects.

The idea that technology is advancing  beyond personal computers to everyday devices with embedded technology and connectivity as computing devices become even more smaller and more powerful. Today, the vision that almost any device, from Clothing to Tools to Appliances to Cars to Homes to the Human Body to your Pen, can be imbedded with chips to connect the device to an infinite network of other devices, is coming into realisation.
