If you are on Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows Phone 8.1, you will be eligible for a free upgrade inside the first year of Windows 10. Microsoft made the announcement at an event on its corporate campus. The company promised a new build of Windows 10 next week, and also confirmed that the first build of the operating system for smartphones will be released in February.

Microsoft ends Internet Explorer and Unveils Project Spartan, its new browser on the Windows 10
Microsoft unveiled a new browser in their January 21 event. The new browser, is codenamed “Project Spartan,” and it will include reading lists, a distraction-free reading mode(like the one in Safari on Macs and iOS devices) and a built-in PDF viewer.
Whatsapp comes to the web
If you are a frequent Whatsapp user, it will be fun to know there’s now a desktop version of the app. It’s a web app rather than a native client — and for now, at least, it seems to only play friendly with Google Chrome.
